2. Does Texas get the top ranked class in the Big 12?

Oklahoma and Texas football are neck and neck with the ranking of each of their 2020 recruiting classes less than two weeks ahead of National Signing Day. Texas and Oklahoma are also far and away the two best ranked recruiting classes in the Big 12. The TCU Horned Frogs, West Virginia Mountaineers, and Oklahoma State Cowboys are the next three best ranked recruiting classes in the Big 12, and they’re all ranked far behind Texas and Oklahoma.

The biggest discrepancy between the 2020 recruiting classes of the Longhorns and Sooners at this point is the argument of quality over quantity. Oklahoma does have 22 players signed as of Jan. 26, but they don’t have anything close to a five-star commitment in their 2020 recruiting class. Four-star Reedy offensive guard Nate Anderson is their highest rated commitment to date. And Anderson is only ranked as the nation’s No. 78 2020 high school prospect.

Head coach Lincoln Riley and the Sooners weren’t doing too well during this recruiting cycle after the Early Signing Period. If Oklahoma does manage to land the commitment of Collins, that would be their highest rated commitment. It would take a solid late run, or an adjustment in Oklahoma’s favor for the prospect rankings to get above Texas.

If Texas was to land the best recruiting class in the Big 12 for this cycle, then it would be the third straight crown that Herman would land as head coach of the Longhorns. Texas just doesn’t look to have a chance at snagging a top three ranked 2020 recruiting class in the nation like they did in each of the last two recruiting cycles.
