1. Is there any significance left for National Signing Day?

This is not just a burning question for the 2020 Texas football recruiting class, but for every Power Five program in the entire country.

Is National Signing Day losing even more of its significance than it did in each of the last two years?

The Early Signing Period definitely takes a lot of the flare away from National Signing Day compared to what it was like before. Now there is usually only a handful of the top 100 high school prospects that still announce their final commitment decisions on National Signing Day, and that narrative will remain the same this year.

Hearing the commitment decision of Collins will be crucial for the Longhorns, but that might be it. If three-star Duncanville late rising cornerback Ennis Rakestraw winds up announcing his commitment decision on or just before National Signing Day, then that could be signficant too.

But the Longhorns have already signed their top 2020 target by far, with five-star Salpointe Catholic running back Bijan Robinson. With all the drama and confusion surrounding the recruitment of five-star North Shore running back Zachary Evans since the fall, Robinson might wind up as the most highly sought after prospect at his position for this cycle.

While National Signing Day lost a lot of its flair from before the Early Signing Period was instituted, it does still carry some level of relevance if there are key four and five-star prospects announcing their commitment decisions come Feb. 5.
