Former Texas football offensive line coach Joe Wickline landed with the Baylor Bears once again in the same position under HC Dave Aranda.

An offensive line coach that’s served under multiple Big 12 programs just found himself with another landing spot in this conference. Former Texas football offensive line coach Joe Wickline reportedly landed with the Baylor Bears on Jan. 27. Former LSU Tigers defensive coordinator Dave Aranda and current Baylor head coach is trying to fill out his coaching staff. And he got one step closer to doing so early this week.

When he was with the Texas Longhorns football program, Wickline served on the coaching staff under former head coach Charlie Strong. Wickline was also an offensive line coach with the Oklahoma State Cowboys and West Virginia Mountaineers at other Big 12 stops. He was an offensive coordinator for one year at West Virginia, and a run game coordinator with Oklahoma State for nearly a decade.

This is also the second stop that Wickline will have with the Baylor program. He was an assistant coach at Baylor back in the late 1990’s, before he ever coached an offensive line with Texas or Oklahoma State.

Other significant stops along the way for Wickline included the Tennessee Volunteers, Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders, Florida Gators, and Ole Miss Rebels. His first significant job as an offensive line coach in college football came with Ole Miss in 1988. That job with Ole Miss lasted until 1994.

Wickline then landed his first head coaching job in 1996, with Delta State. But that only lasted for one year, and it was 1997 when he went back to Division I college football. Wickline joined Baylor as their offensive line coach one year after his first and only college football head coaching job.

Moreover, Wickline was an offensive line coach and co-offensive coordinator for the Longhorns under Strong in 2014 and 2015. He was let go from the Forty Acres just one year before Strong’s tenure was done with the program.

Baylor is assembling their staff with bunches of assistants that have connections with the Longhorns. Former Texas offensive analyst and North Carolina Tar Heels head coach Larry Fedora was hired under Aranda to be Baylor’s next offensive coordinator.
