4. Cedric Reed (Defensive End), Los Angeles Wildcats

The name of former Texas football defensive end Cedric Reed surfaces once again after a fairly long lapse in his professional career. Reed played for the Longhorns from 2011-2014 and was a fierce pass rusher during his junior and senior seasons on the Forty Acres. But the traction never stuck for him in the NFL.

After going undrafted in the 2015 NFL Draft, the Bills signed Reed as a free agent. But he never played in a single NFL regular season game before the Bills cut him later the following year. Reed did last on the Bills practice squad for a little more than one year. He was then signed out of free agency by the Miami Dolphins in fall 2016.

The Dolphins cut Reed before he had the chance to make the final roster ahead of the 2016 regular season. He wasn’t signed to any other NFL team before he was signed by the Los Angeles Wildcats during the XFL’s open phase. He wasn’t selected in the actual 2020 XFL Draft by the Wildcats, though.

Reed is an intriguing pass rusher that found a lot of success getting after the quarterback and forcing fumble in the latter years with the Longhorns. He led the Big 12 in forced fumbles during the 2013 season, with five. He racked up more than 30 career tackles for loss and had more than 15 sacks in his final two years with Texas.
