1. Jerrod Heard (Wide Receiver), Dallas Renegades

It should be a lot of fun to see the former electrifying Texas football quarterback/wide receiver Jerrod Heard in the Renegades offense that will be spearheaded by Stoops as head coach and Landry behind center. Heard will be one of the most versatile athletes on any active XFL roster, and he’ll have possibly the best quarterback in the league throwing to him.

Even though Heard wasn’t among the sole former Longhorn selected in the positional phase of the 2020 XFL Draft, he is the most exciting of those playing in the league this year. He’s also the lone skill position player on either side of the ball that is sitting on an active roster.

Heard never made it onto an NFL roster after his playing days with the Longhorns were over. He was one of numerous Longhorns that didn’t get picked up in the 2019 NFL Draft. But he was never signed onto a roster as an undrafted free agent following the 2019 NFL Draft either. He could use that snub as motivation to gain more national attention to maybe make it onto an NFL roster soon.

Moreover, Heard could have a long way to go in his professional football career. But this is his first real opportunity to make an impact since his college football playing days ended to make a name for himself at the next level. He’ll make his debut with the Renegades on Feb. 8 against the Battlehawks at Globe Life Park in Arlington (home of the MLB’s Texas Rangers).
