The highest rated legit target of the 2021 Texas football recruiting so far, 5-Star OT Tommy Brockermeyer, is getting eyeballs on him all over the country.

Potentially the most important target of the 2021 Texas football recruiting is a Longhorn legacy, five-star elite All Saints Episcopal offensive tackle Tommy Brockermeyer. He’s one of two Brockermeyer brothers that Texas has to be hoping to nab for their 2021 recruiting class.

But the 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions aren’t favoring the Texas Longhorns football program as heavily as they once did anymore. Two other programs that are starting to creep into the conversation surrounding Brockermeyer includes the reigning National Champion LSU Tigers and the runner-up Clemson Tigers.

Of the six expert Crystal Ball Predictions in for Brockermeyer as of Feb. 8, four go with the Longhorns and one each goes with LSU and Clemson. The Alabama Crimson Tide and Auburn Tigers are also listed as “warm” in the running for Brockermeyer on his 247Sports recruiting profile.

But Rivals is not as high on LSU and Clemson as 247Sports is. The Rivals FutureCast for Brockermeyer still gives him a 100 percent chance to land with the Longhorns. Between 247Sports and Rivals both still leaning toward the Longhorns, there shouldn’t be much of a cause for concern in his recruitment.

Head coach Tom Herman and offensive line coach Herb Hand do have to keep on his recruitment maybe more so than anyone else they are targeting for the Longhorns 2021 recruiting class. Brockermeyer ranks as the nation’s No. 3 2021 high school prospect and the top overall offensive tackle and prospect out of the state of Texas.

Moroever, Brockermeyer was on campus with both Alabama and Auburn for visits on Feb. 1 and 2. He was also on campus with head coach Dabo Swinney and Clemson for an unofficial visit back on Jan. 24. He’s been on six official and/or unofficial visits with Alabama, Auburn, LSU, and Clemson, since the last one was lasted on his recruiting timeline with Texas.

The trend of where he’s scheduling his visits is important to watch in the pursuit of Brockemeyer. That could be a key indication moving forward of where he’s leaning for his commitment decision.

Here’s what 247Sports had to say on the matter of what Brockermeyer could bring to the table for the various programs pursuing him entering the thick of the 2021 recruiting cycle.

"Big-framed offensive tackle with outstanding football pedigree. Possesses requisite height and frame potential for elite tackle prospect. Plays with active feet and encouraging leg drive. Shows better than expected pad level and leverage relative to height and frame length. Plays with a high motor and displays block-finishing ability. Gets to second level well. Owns a very high ceiling as a pass-blocker and true left tackle potential. Occasionally plays with too much forward lean. Can get too far out over his feet. Hand placement consistency could use work. One of the top offensive tackles nationally in the 2021 class. Possesses early round NFL Draft potential."

The 6-foot-6 and 283 pound offensive tackle has offers from more than 25 different schools. The highlights of his offer sheet outside of the five aforementioned schools includes the Baylor Bears, Florida Gators, Georgia Bulldogs, Michigan Wolverines, Oklahoma Sooners, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and the Oregon Ducks.

LSU and Clemson might be creeping into the picture of the sweepstakes to land Brockermeyer’s pledge, but we have a long way to go in all likelihood before he announces his decision. Texas has remained on top during his recruitment so far, and looks to do so well into the 2020 offseason.
