Texas Football: Deeper look into 4 Longhorns invited to 2020 NFL Combine
What is there to watch for from the four former Texas football players invited to the 2020 NFL Draft Combine later this month?
This should be a better crop of prospects coming out of the Texas football program into the 2020 NFL Draft than there was last year. Texas produced two potential early round picks in the 2020 NFL Draft between former senior star wide receiver Collin Johnson and senior starting safety Brandon Jones.
But even Johnson and Jones have a lot to prove heading into this definitive scouting process ahead of the 2020 NFL Draft. The NFL Combine tends to be the biggest one of those scouting events remaining since the Senior Bowl is now in the rear view mirror. The Senior Bowl did see a pair of Texas Exes compete, with Johnson and fellow wide receiver Devin Duvernay.
Duvernay might be a name to watch that emerges in the early-to-middle round draft pick conversation. But he would have to have a big NFL Combine, really showing off his speed and strength in tight areas in all the tests and showcases.
There were more than 300 NFL Draft prospects that were invited to the 2020 NFL Combine. It does seem slight that Texas only has four former players that were invited, but there could be more than that selected come draft time.
Among those invitees are top tier prospects are Ohio State’s defensive end Chase Young and cornerback Jeff Okudah and quarterbacks like LSU’s Joe Burrow and Oregon’s Justin Herbert.
