Four former Texas football players from different teams over the last decade competed in the first week of XFL action last weekend.

Former members of the Texas football program were in action all across the XFL in what amounted to a successful inaugural week of the league. The XFL reportedly sold more tickets already through the end of Week 1 than the Alliance of American Football did throughout the entirety of their eight weeks of existence.

That could mean good things for the Texas Exes competing in the XFL during its inaugural season.

The first week of the XFL drew mostly positive reviews, and TV ratings were high. But longevity tends to be more important with any alternative spring professional football league to the NFL. The XFL will be no exception since it failed after just one season already. This is a reboot to the XFL, not the founding season of the entire league.

And one game that had two Texas Exes playing in it reportedly drew the best TV ratings of all that were played last weekend. That was the Dallas Renegades facing the St. Louis Battlehawks on Sunday afternoon. Former Oklahoma Sooners head coach Bob Stoops saw his Renegades fall short against the Battlehawks in upset fashion by the final score of 15-9. It was also one of the lower scoring games in the XFL Week 1.

Here’s a deeper look into how the four former players from the Texas Longhorns football program fared in the inaugural week of the XFL.
