Texas Football: 5 best former Longhorns in the NFL in 2020
Most schools would be heartfelt to have a kicker as their second best player at the next level. But since the Texas football program might’ve sent the best kicker in NFL history out of its talent factory this decade, this is just fine. Former Texas kicker Justin Tucker had one of his best seasons yet in the NFL in 2019.
The Hall-of-Fame Monitor on Pro-Football Reference for Tucker nearly has his as someone who would be inducted at a point that could be less than halfway through his NFL career. Tucker was selected as an All-Pro in each of the last four seasons. Prior to that, he was a First-Team All-Pro honoree in 2013.
Moreover, Tucker has three Pro Bowl selections in his career, 11 Player of the Week individual honors, and seven Player of the Month honors. Tucker had the second best field goal percentage in the NFL in 2019 (better than 96 percent) and is the active leader in extra-point percentage (better than 99 percent).
Among active NFL players, Tucker ranks in the top 10 in total points scored (1,093). He is also the active leader in field goal percentage (90.75). There’s no questioning that Tucker is the best at his position in the NFL right now, and that should only continue for the next three or five years. These years should be the best of his professional career.
