Texas Football: How former Longhorn transfers fared elsewhere in 2019
Wide Receivers
Reggie Hemphill-Mapps (Missouri Southern State)
The journey for former Texas football standout freshman wide receiver Reggie Hemphill-Mapps since leaving the Forty Acres was a confusing one to say the least. He landed with Trinity Valley Community College after transferring from Texas. Hemphill-Mapps announced on Twitter that he is “Missouri Southern State University WR # 11” on Jan. 11.

Hemphill-Mapps didn’t get much production during his one year at Trinity Valley C.C. It was announced that he signed with Southern Missouri State football as their of their 2019 recruiting class on the school’s official athletic website.
The one season that Hemphill-Mapps spent at Texas saw him rack up 433 total yards from scrimmage between rushing and receiving. He was also a special teams threat as a punt returner, and had 180 yards as a specialist and one touchdown.
Bru McCoy (USC)
The most polarizing transfer news that came about for the Longhorns last offseason involved former five-star Mater Dei athlete recruit and current redshirt freshman USC Trojans wide receiver Bru McCoy. After initially signing with and enrolling early at USC last year, McCoy wound up transferring to Texas.
Even before summer workouts arrived, McCoy was on his way back to Southern California to link back up with head coach Clay Helton and the USC program. He didn’t play any last season since he wasn’t able to get immediate eligibility back. Look out for McCoy to make an impact with the USC offense with a lot of returning production around him this fall.
This was one of the most confusing transfer sagas since the installation of the transfer portal, and it wasn’t really the fault of the Longhorns.
