Defensive Players

Eric Cuffee, Cornerback

The 6-foot former three-star Texas football cornerback recruit Eric Cuffee didn’t last long on the Forty Acres before he put his name into the transfer portal. He spent his junior season with the New Mexico Lobos out in the Mountain West Conference, only racking up one total tackle.

The 2020 season will be the final year of eligibility for Cuffee. He could viably get more playing time with a new coaching regime taking over at New Mexico. Cuffee will also be joined by another Texas Ex in offensive coordinator and tight ends coach Derek Warehime.

Cameron Townsend, Linebacker

The former four-star highly touted linebacker recruit for the Longhorns, Cameron Townsend, put his name into the transfer portal last offseason. He was presumed to be a fairly highly sought after graduate transfer who could come in somewhere and make an immediate impact. But he didn’t land anywhere that is known up to this point.

The Ridge Point High School product and Missouri City, TX, native racked up five total tackles in four games played during his three years on the Forty Acres.

Michael Williams, Defensive Lineman

A transfer announcement that was surely surprising was the former three-star defensive tackle recruit Michael Williams taking his talents from Texas and landing with the LSU Tigers. Williams is now playing at defensive end for head coach Ed Orgeron and LSU and will be entering his redshirt sophomore season after not racking up any game stats last year.
