Texas Football: Fast rising 3-Star S puts Longhorns in ‘top group’
Three-star 2021 Texas football recruiting class safety target and Skyline product Isaiah Nwokobia could have the Longhorns as an early top school.
According to a report from Horns247, a very fast rising talent that’s a target of the 2021 Texas football recruiting class recently included them among his top schools. Three-star Dallas native and Skyline High School safety Isaiah Nwokobia is one of the hotter names among those in his classification for this recruiting cycle.
Here’s what that piece from Horns247 had to say on the matter with how Texas sat in the eyes of Nwokobia entering spring ball.
"“Obviously Texas just came a couple of weeks ago,” he said. “I’m big on Texas. I like Cal a lot too, though. It’s been a big month right before the dead period happened. It was a pretty big month for me. Now, I’m just looking forward to spring ball and getting to move around a little and hit somebody. I miss the game, so I can’t wait for spring ball.”"
The Texas Longhorns football program recently sent a scholarship offer to Nwokobia, so they’re clearly catching on pretty fast. Nwokobia posted on his Twitter timeline on Feb. 1 that he received his offer from the Longhorns. He’s also received numerous offers since then. His latest offer came from head coach Scott Frost and the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Feb. 19.
The other four offers Nwokobia received since he got his from the Longhorns that weren’t also from Nebraska included the Arkansas Razorbacks, USC Trojans, Cal Golden Bears, and Boise State Broncos. All those offers came earlier this month for Nwokobia.
At this point, Nwokobia holds more than 20 schools on his ever-growing offer sheet. The rest of his significant offers came from the Duke Blue Devils, Houston Cougars, Mizzou Tigers, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Texas Tech Red Raiders, and Vanderbilt Commodores. The only other Big 12 program that wasn’t already mentioned that offered him was the Kansas Jayhawks.
Nwokobia ranks as the nation’s No. 539 2021 high school prospect and the No. 32 safety. This 6-foot and 186 pound Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex native shouldn’t surprise anyone to bolt up the recruiting rankings this offseason. He is starting to look more like a four-star safety than a three-star. He stood out at the 7-on-7 Pylon Tournament in Fort Worth last weekend.
The 247Sports recruiting profile of Nwokobia has Texas, Cal, and the SMU Mustangs listed as “warm” in his pursuit. Texas and Cal were specifically mentioned in that piece from Horns247 among those that are impressing him thus far.
Texas has yet to land any safety commitments in the 2021 recruiting class. They did land among another set of finalist schools from four-star Marrero, LA, safety Kaine Williams on Feb. 19. Williams had a finalist list of eight schools. So Williams and Nwokobia could definitely be two names to watch at the position moving forward.
