If not for a bevy of injuries during his first two years with the Texas Tech Red Raiders, then to-be redshirt sophomore quarterback Alan Bowman would be higher on this list. Bowman did post solid numbers during his first two years in Lubbock when he was actually healthy.

Bowman will be returning for his third season in Lubbock only having played 11 games. He played in three games last season before sustaining a shoulder injury that caused him to take a medical redshirt. In the three games Bowman played in last season, he racked up 1,020 passing yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions.

The career totals for Bowman now have him at 3,658 passing yards, 25 total touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. That all compiled to help Bowman register a passer efficiency rating of 143.7 over his two year career in Lubbock. The 6-foot-3 and 210 pound signal caller is going to hope to actually stay healthy and maximize a supporting cast with the Texas Tech offense that includes to-be redshirt senior wide receiver T.J. Vasher and junior running back Ta’Zhawn Henry.

The completion rate of Bowman with the Red Raiders is very good, sitting at 68.2 percent for his career. And his adjusted yards per passing attempt are solid too, sitting around 7.6. Given that Texas Tech shortened the field with their offense under former Utah State Aggies head coach Matt Wells compared to Kliff Kingsbury, Bowman’s production is pretty good.
