Texas Football: 4-star Ohio St CB target Jamier Johnson eyeing visit
A solid underrated target of the 2021 Texas football recruiting class who was recently offered, 4-Star CB Jamier Johnson, could be visiting soon.
One of the more underrated targets of the 2021 Texas football recruiting class in the midst of the 2020 offseason looks to be planning his visit to the Forty Acres in due time. Four-star John Muir cornerback Jamier Johnson now holds a lucky 13 number of schools on his growing offer sheet. And Texas is one of those 13 schools that sent Johnson a scholarship offer so far.
The Texas Longhorns football program could reportedly be hosting Johnson on the Forty Acres this offseason. Hopefully they can get him to campus during spring camp, which could start building a good bond with a lot of the new faces in the Texas coaching staff.
It wasn’t all that long ago that the Longhorns sent an offer to Johnson in the first place. He received that Texas offer on Feb. 5. That was one of a number of offers that Texas sent out in the early stages of the 2020 offseason.
Johnson has also recently taken a reported visit with head coach Clay Helton and the USC Trojans. The Pasadenca, CA, native would clearly be giving the geographical upper-hand to PAC-12 programs, more specifically USC and the UCLA Bruins.
A program that still comes up in talks with the recruitment of Johnson is the Ohio State Buckeyes. Second-year head coach Ryan Day could be getting an inside track to heed Johnson to Columbus. The Buckeyes are another one of those 13 programs to offer Johnson thus far.
In that aforementioned report on the intentions of Johnson to take a visit with the Longhorns once he figures out that schedule for the offseason, it shows that he is planning to go to Ohio State on March 26. If he goes in the week or two following his visit with Ohio State, then he could see Texas in the latter stages of spring camp.
Johnson ranks as the nation’s No. 279 2021 high school prospect and the No. 21 cornerback. He also ranks as a top 30 prospect out of California. The 6-foot-1 and 175 pound defensive back also holds offers from the Florida Gators, Colorado Buffaloes, Oregon Ducks, Kansas Jayhawks, Oregon State Beavers, Rutgers Scarlet Knights, and Utah State Aggies.
