Texas Football: Ehlinger backs Collin Johnson, Devin Duvernay for Combine
The 2020 NFL Combine began this week, and former Texas football WR’s Collin Johnson and Devin Duvernay are set to participate.
The 2020 NFL Draft Combine is the highlight of the week in football, and two prominent former Texas football star wide receivers are set to compete in the event. Those two former Texas star wide receivers are Devin Duvernay and the towering 6-foot-6 Collin Johnson.
And the quarterback from the Texas Longhorns football program that was throwing to Johnson and Duvernay for each of the last three seasons, to-be senior star Sam Ehlinger, supported their cause ahead of the 2020 NFL Combine.
At least Ehlinger got his Tweets out in support of his two former Texas targets prior to the start of their testing in the NFL Combine.

The first Tweet that Ehlinger sent out on Feb. 27 was to Johnson. The standout former outside wide receiver for the Longhorns struggled with a lingering hamstring injury during his senior season, but still managed to average just shy of 100 receiving yards per game. Johnson never got to have a 1,000-receiving yard season during his four years on the Forty Acres.
Moreover, Duvernay got the second support Tweet from Ehlinger. The dynamic duo that was Ehlinger and Duvernay was one of the best quarterback-wide receiver connections in the Big 12 last season. Duvernay had 106 catches for more than 1,400 total yards from scrimmage and 10 touchdowns during his breakthrough senior campaign.
Both wideouts head into the NFL Combine with volatile draft stocks that could see them fall as early as the late first or early second round or even the latter rounds if they have a poor showing this week. Johnson is likely to be the receiver with the higher floor and more than likely the first taken off the board.
Meanwhile, Duvernay does fit the mould that so many NFL teams are moving toward now where speedy wide receivers take over games. Duvernay could run one of the faster 40-yard dash times, as the 5-foot-11 wideout is a former track star.
