Texas Football: Horns offer 4-Star LSU WDE target Malick Sylla
A target of LSU and Texas A&M, Katy’s weak-side defensive end Malick Sylla landed an offer from the 2022 Texas football recruiting class on Feb. 27.
With the dead period now officially in the rear view mirror for the college football offseason, offers can continue to go out for head coach Tom Herman and his staff on the recruiting trail. Since there has yet to be a single commitment, or anything close to that, in the 2022 Texas football recruiting class, Herman really needs to get going.
But the Texas Longhorns football program is definitely sending out its fair share of offers to 2022 recruiting targets. On Feb. 27, Texas sent out a scholarship offer to yet another rising talent for the 2022 recruiting cycle. This one went to a rising star in 2022 Katy weak-side defensive end Malick Sylla.
There isn’t a recruiting ranking in yet for Sylla from 247Sports. But he is surely getting the national attention that a four or five-star prospect would of late. Sylla is getting a ton of offers during the month of February, and it will roll out the red carpet for how he plans out his first set of visits this offseason.
Sylla is reportedly set to have a visit with head coach Ed Orgeron and the defending National Champion LSU Tigers on March 14. He is also planning to take a visit with head coach Jimbo Fisher and the Texas A&M Aggies during spring camp.
Up to this point, Sylla has the lucky 13 number of schools on his growing offer sheet. This 6-foot-5 and 225 pound Katy, TX, native has the USC Trojans, Tennessee Volunteers, Baylor Bears, Houston Cougars, Kentucky Wildcats, Ole Miss Rebels, SMU Mustangs, and Mississippi State Bulldogs highlighting his offer sheet.
Just during the month of February, Sylla has offers from more than seven schools. Among those that offered Sylla this month are Texas, Texas A&M, Tennessee, USC, and the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
Sylla’s sophomore season at Katy High School was his first with the varsity program. His highlights clearly made quite the impact with coaching staffs around the Big 12, SEC, and PAC-12. Texas and Tennessee even offered him in the same day, on Feb. 27.
