3. Collin Johnson, Wide Receiver

Yet another case of injury issues for a player coming out of the Texas football program, which is the main reason for him falling on a list like this. Former Longhorn wide receiver Collin Johnson is one injury case that struck recently. Through this draft scouting process, it initially appeared that Johnson had recovered from that lingering hamstring injury that held him back for much of the 2019 season.

While it wasn’t the hamstring injury that limited Johnson during the 2020 NFL Combine, he is still battling other lower-body issues. This time it was a hip flexor injury that kept Johnson from competing in most of the more significant events for wide receivers at the combine. All he really did so far within the last week in Indianapolis was the benchpress (where he put up 17 reps).

One factor working in Johnson’s favor were his measurements at the outset of the combine. That did help his draft stock from falling too far, despite this hip flexor problem. He measured in as the tallest wide receiver at the combine, at 6-foot-5. Although he didn’t come close to having the largest wingspan among the wide receivers.

It would be good to see Johnson have a really solid Texas Pro Day come next month. The Texas Pro Day is set to take place on April 1, so he needs to recover from the hip injury soon. Proving that his insane physical tools will pay dividends for whatever NFL team is willing to take a flier on him in the 2020 NFL Draft is what he could accomplish next on April 1.
