Texas Football: Promising 2021 ATH target looking to visit campus soon
A talented athlete/cornerback target of the 2021 Texas football recruiting class, LA native Ceyair Wright, could be visiting campus this spring.
Building up the 2021 Texas football recruiting class is a task that won’t come easy for head coach Tom Herman this offseason. Texas will be fighting to keep a top 10 ranked group in the national class rankings throughout the 2020 college football offseason. As of March 3, the 2021 recruiting class for Texas ranks at No. 7 in the nation, according to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings.
In the 2021 national class rankings, the Texas Longhorns football program somehow found themselves sandwiched above former head coach Mack Brown and the North Carolina Tar Heels and below the Wisconsin Badgers. North Carolina and Wisconsin are usually better at recruiting basketball talent than they are football.
However, the Longhorns are still in a good position with their talented 2021 recruiting class at this point in time. They do have one five-star commit, with Denton-Ryan athlete Ja’Tavion Sanders. There’s other potential five-star commitments that could be on the horizon for the Longhorns too.
One key prospect that the 2021 Longhorns recruiting class could have their sights set on now out-of-state is four-star Loyola athlete/cornerback Ceyair Wright. This 6-foot-1 and 175 pound Los Angeles, CA, native ranks as the nation’s No. 83 2021 high school prospect and the No. 7 cornerback. He also ranks as a top 10 prospect out of California.
Texas recently sent out their scholarship offer to Wright. That offer from Texas came to Wright on Feb. 29. The post on Wright’s Twitter timeline on Feb. 29 showed that he was in contact with recently hired Texas cornerbacks coach Jay Valai when he received his offer.
Other significant offers that Wright holds came from the Oregon Ducks, Arkansas Razorbacks, Baylor Bears, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Oklahoma Sooners, and USC Trojans.
A recent report from Mike Roach of Horns247 showed that Wright could be intending to visit Texas during the spring. Apparently Wright is impressed with what Valai and the Longhorns defense could bring to the table. It is definitely worth putting a lot of energy into getting him to visit the Forty Acres during an important spring camp for the Longhorns.
Texas has yet to land a single defensive back commit in their 2021 recruiting class. Valai looks to be busy on the recruiting trail of late, though, out of the dead period. Texas is very active with sending out more scholarship offers than usual, and they’re clearly making an impact on a prospect like Wright.
Oh and by the way, Wright is a movie star that plays the son of LeBron James in the feature film “Space Jam 2”.
