1. Motivations and momentum

Oklahoma State seemingly has much less to play for than the Texas basketball program does this weekend. They’re well out of the NCAA Tournament picture, and just trying to build momentum ahead of maybe an NIT bid and the lead up to the nation’s top rated 2020 recruit Cade Cunningham arriving in Stillwater for next season.

Moreover, the Longhorns could lock up a top three seed in the Big 12 Tournament and inch their way to getting a single-digit seed in the NCAA Tournament if they get the win over the Pokes. That would also get the Longhorns one step closer to a 20-win regular season, which was hard to come by for Smart since arriving on the Forty Acres.

Most of what Oklahoma State has to play for is their seniors that are going to be out of eligibility come next offseason. Waters, Dziagwa, and senior forward Cameron McGriff are playing in their final regular season game on Saturday afternoon and will surely be looking to leave the best mark on the program that they can.
