The name that could very possibly be the biggest left in the transfer portal is the former Miami Hurricanes to-be redshirt sophomore Jarren Williams. With other names like the former Florida Gator Feleipe Franks and Stanford Cardinal K.J. Costello committed to other programs, Williams took to the forefront of late.

Potential landing spots for Williams when discussed almost never includes the Texas football program. But the Longhorns do offer a path to a starting role once Ehlinger’s time as the mainstay quarterback is done following the 2020 season. Williams would still have two years of eligibility left once Ehlinger’s would be done.

Landing Williams would be for more of a long-term fit than an immediate impact. Texas would slot Williams alongside the likes of Roschon, Casey Thompson, Hudson Card, and/or Ja’Quinden Jackson. Even the four-star 2021 dual-threat quarterback commit Jalen Milroe could compete for the starting job, or at least some playing time, come the 2021 season.

However, Williams brings a lot of intrigue with him to whatever his next destination is. Williams completed more than 61 percent of his passing attempts for nearly 2,200 yards, 19 touchdowns, and seven picks. The dual-threat ability of Williams wasn’t really allowed to shine last season as he was under constant pressure behind a bad Canes offensive line.
