Texas Football: 3 NCAA Transfer Portal Longhorns WR targets
The Oklahoma State Cowboys really lost a lot to the transfer portal at the skill positions once again. Head coach Mike Gundy and the Pokes have their biggest loss right here, though, in the form of the highly touted former four-star recruit and Tulsa, OK, native wide receiver C.J. Moore. It was a bit odd how early Moore put his name in the transfer portal.
But this could be a gem find for the Texas football program nonetheless.
Moore only got to play in spots of three different games. That helped him rack up four catches for 81 yards and two touchdowns. He was able to reserve his redshirt since he didn’t play in more than four games, though. Moore is also one of a few skill position Pokes that were in the transfer portal at some point already this offseason. That list of former Pokes also includes wide receiver L.C. Greenwood and running back Jahmyl Jeter.
The 6-foot-5 and 175 pound frame that Moore brings to the table shows that he still needs to put on a lot of size. But if he was given a year or two to work under Texas strength and conditioning coach Yancy McKnight, that could all change in the blink of an eye. A big key to success moving forward will be putting on more size and getting a bigger role wherever he can.
There’s little to no reason why Moore wouldn’t get to land with another Power Five or top tier Group of Five program this offseason. It’s still a bit of a mystery why he’s leaving Oklahoma State, but this potential gem needs to be picked up by the Texas coaching staff soon if they need wide receiver help.
