3. Brock Cunningham, Forward

The run that the former three-star recruit and the redshirt freshman forward Brock Cunningham had on the Texas basketball program this year was immeasurable down the stretch. The Longhorns got a lot of help once the depth started to thin out in the frontcourt rotation when Cunningham really rose to the occasion.

Cunningham was a three-star signee and one of the more unheralded prospects that the Longhorns pursued to add to their 2018 recruiting class for the entirety of the cycle. He didn’t get much of a shot to make an impact until he got more playing time down the stretch this season. And boy did he when given the opportunity.

In the last three games of the winning streak for the Longhorns, Cunningham posted 18 of his 23 total points on the season and 22 of his 28 total rebounds. His stat line on the season in total wasn’t that impressive, but the impact he made when it mattered most is why he is on a list like this.

In 16 games played, Cunningham averaged just 1.4 points per game, 1.8 rebounds, and 0.3 assists. But his seven steals and four blocks mostly came when the Longhorns won five straight games down the stretch. Cunningham should be given a much bigger role whenever the next game action comes for Texas.
