Each and every college around the country is seemingly delaying events due to COVID-19, including the Texas football program for spring camp.

Facing the prospect of the novel coronavirus cancelling sporting events not just countrywide, but worldwide, college football put a lot of spring camps on delay. College sports across the board really were shut down for at least two or three weeks, depending on what point each season was at. The Texas football program joined the trend of programs at least delaying the start of spring camp, as they won’t get going at least until the end of the month of March.

Texas was set to begin spring drills earlier this week, but the COVID-19 threat took that away. There could still be a spring football game, but the threat of COVID-19 tends to be an ongoing storyline, so we don’t know as of yet. The Orange-White Game was set to originally take place on April 25.

Spring football is about the only thing that college fans have to take their minds off of the long offseason until the season rolls around again in late August. Polls and media hype does start to ramp up again around late July, which helps the burden of the long college football offseason. But going without a month or so of spring football will be tough.

Those are some valuable practice reps that younger players, especially early enrollees, miss out on. But Texas athletics did what was right, as did pretty much every college around the country, in pushing back various sports and classes. When campus activities resume again, the football program will need to ramp things up ASAP.

Here’s a look into the three players that are in particular the most impacted by the delay in spring camp for the Texas Longhorns football program.
