2. Ayodele Adeoye, Linebacker

Since the linebacking corps might be the thinnest position for the Texas football program entering spring camp, they needed the practice reps more so than just about any other group on either side of the ball. Texas doesn’t have much experience in the linebacking corps, but maybe a full year of starts from the likes of Juwan Mitchell.

All but one linebacker for the Longhorns might be impacted in a negative sense by the delay in spring camp. To-be redshirt sophomore Ayodele Adeoye was supposed to miss the entirety of spring ball after getting foot surgery earlier in the offseason. But if the spring football game or any bit of drills are pushed back, then maybe we’ll see Adeoye back getting some reps.

The same could be said for the likes of junior nickelback B.J. Foster or redshirt freshman defensive lineman T’Vondre Sweat. Various injuries will cause a few Longhorns to miss spring camp, and a delay in the drills could allow at least one of them to get back into the mix before summer hits and campus empties.

Last season, Adeoye had his first breakthrough with 45 total tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, one interception, and two pass deflections. The 6-foot-1 and 250 pound Adeoye did make an impact in the 11 games he played in, but he still has a long way to go. He could use the additional practice reps if he’s healthy and ready to go with any push back in drills and the game.
