1. Jordan Whittington, Wide Receiver

Anytime there is a position switch made by head coach Tom Herman with the Texas football program, there is going to be a lot of emphasis placed on getting in rhythm during spring and fall practice. In the case of the Longhorns, there’s usually a lot of movement up and down the depth chart under Herman’s direction each offseason.

Maybe the most notable position switch that Herman made for the Longhorns early in the 2020 offseason was moving former five-star Cuero wide receiver recruit Jordan Whittington from running back to his original position. Whittington didn’t get to prove much during his time at running back, since he was hampered by injury for much of his true freshman campaign.

Coming into his redshirt freshman season, there is still a lot to learn for Whittington. His insane speed and agility and versatile skill set allows Whittington to be very multiple, hence why he switched positions in the first place. But he’ll need to get accustomed to moving back to wide receiver at some point soon.

A receiving corps that is much thinner among the starters than it was heading into the 2019 season will need to figure something out. The former senior starting wideouts Collin Johnson and Devin Duvernay are headed to the NFL Draft. Now, players like Whittington, Jake Smith, Joshua Moore, and Brennan Eagles will need to step up in a big way.
