In terms of raw talent and promise, maybe the best offensive guard that the Texas football program could go after in the transfer portal at this point is the LSU Tigers rising redshirt senior Donavaughn Campbell. This 6-foot-4 and 350 pound towering offensive guard has overwhelming strength and good footwork, but he never got a consistent chance to prove himself in Baton Rouge.

Campbell was versatile enough to play at both guard positions for head coach Ed Orgeron in a span of 15 games during his time in Baton Rouge. But he never got a single start, even when the LSU offensive line started to get a bit thinner due to injury in each of the last two years. Injury was a problem of its own for Campbell, though.

This coming season, Campbell was set to battle for reps and/or starts at one of the offensive guard positions for LSU. But he wound up putting his name in the transfer portal before that was able to happen. He’ll have plenty of time now to explore his transfer options. Nothing bona fide came from his transfer process yet.
