A potential one-year fix for Smart and the Texas basketball program to the frontcourt rotation could be trying to land the Quinnipiac standout 6-foot-8 rising senior power forward Kevin Marfo out of the transfer portal. Marfo is a former three-star recruit that committed to his original landing spot (George Washington) way back in October 2015.

The main concerning surrounding Marfo would be his flight risk. But the Longhorns would only be getting him for one year, so the fact that this will be his second transfer stint and third school is a worry that is watered down a bit. Marfo did play his freshman season with George Washington. He then spent the last two seasons with Quinnipiac in the MAAC.

However, most of the offers that Marfo received coming out of Worcester Academy in Oradell, NJ, were from mid-major schools. The highlight of the schools on his offer sheet included the Providence Friars, Boston College Eagles, Kansas State Wildcats, DePaul Blue Demons, and the Xavier Musketeers. So there were some power conference schools on his offer sheet, but they were outnumbered by the mid-majors.

Last season, Marfo played in 30 games (starting 29 of them) while averaging 10.2 points per game, a whopping 13.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 0.6 steals, and 1.2 blocks. He did all that while shooting 48.4 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from beyond the arc (only three attempts from downtown on the season), and 71.0 percent from the charity stripe.

Oh would the rebounding woes be mostly silenced for at least one year if the Longhorns snagged Marfo out of the transfer market.
