Texas Football: 3 NCAA Transfer Portal Longhorns OT targets
An under-the-radar target that the Texas football program could look into that would be a good fit is the former Duke Blue Devils rising senior offensive tackle Jaylen Miller. The 6-foot-3 and 315 pound Miller is stronger and quicker than a lot of his measurables and highlights would give him credit for. But he’s a force in the trenches.
Miller played in nine games last year, which matched his previous total from the previous two years he was in Durham. Duke’s offensive line also improved with the increased playing time for Miller last season. Duke ranked in the top five in the ACC in sacks allowed and their ground game averaged more than 150 yards per game.
Whether it was him or someone else, Miller clearly made an impact in some regard for this improving Duke offensive line. He’s a former three-star recruit that hails from Jacksonville, FL, and Providence High School. Miller ranked as the nation’s No. 749 2016 high school prospect and the No. 34 offensive guard.
Since his recruitment out of Providence, Miller has since switched positions and shown a good amount of versatility. Being multiple is a huge benefit for transfer candidates in all likelihood in the eyes of head coach Tom Herman and offensive line coach Herb Hand. Herman usually values players that are multiple and that’s how it goes for the rising senior that didn’t get a whole lot of offers from blue bloods.
