The towering and lengthy 6-foot-5 and 265 pound Aldine MacArthur High School product and Houston, TX, native weak-side defensive end Isaiah Chambers is likely the most coveted transfer candidate left at this position. Getting this Houston Cougars rising senior standout pass rusher would be huge for Herman and Ash.

While the transfer portal actually holds a lot of defensive end talent this offseason, there is no one that sticks out as an immediate star at this point. But the Texas football program could get a real solid shot at turning one transfer candidate into a star if they were able to land Chambers heading into the summer.

Last season, Chambers registered 13 total tackles, five tackles for loss, three sacks, and one forced fumble. That now brings his career stat line to 23 total tackles, 11.0 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, one pass deflection, and one forced fumble. Given that Chambers has only played in 11 games thus far in his college career, that’s a very solid stat line.

Coming out of high school, Chambers was a very highly touted recruit that originally gave his commitment to the TCU Horned Frogs. He ranked as the nation’s No. 131 2016 high school prospect and the No. 7 strong-side defensive end. Texas was one of the nearly 30 schools that sat on Chambers’ offer sheet, but he never gave them the time of day. Former head coach Charlie Strong was still running things on the Forty Acres at that time.
