Keeping the attention in the transfer portal local for the Texas football program, a former rival outside linebacker could be a good spot to scout. Oklahoma Sooners to-be senior outside linebacker Mark Jackson Jr. had a similar narrative to others on this list in terms of exterior circumstances out of his control interfering with his college career.

This 6-foot-1 and 235 pound edge rusher mostly split his time coming off the edge and as a defensive end at Oklahoma. He played in just the number of games that he could to keep his redshirt alive and have one more year of eligibility (four). In those games played, he did rake in just one total tackle.

However, Jackson Jr. does bring a lot to the table that other outside linebackers on this list just can’t. He does have 53 career total tackles, eight tackles for loss, four sacks, one pass deflection, and one fumble recovery from his time with Oklahoma. But he also only played in 17 games in Norman where he had any defensive production.

Jackson Jr. is a former highly touted outside linebacker recruit that is a native of Cibolo, TX, and hails from Steele High School (the same that Texas junior safety Caden Sterns went to). He ranked as the nation’s No. 202 2016 high school prospect and the No. 13 weak-side defensive end. He has since switched positions a few times.

Texas was also one of the dozen offers that Jackson Jr. received coming out of high school.
