Among the uncommitted outside linebackers that the Texas football program could go after in the transfer portal that aren’t a flight or a suspension risk (hence one other name I’ll get to in a bit), Michigan Wolverines to-be redshirt junior Jordan Anthony is the most highly touted. Granted Michigan is a bit of a front seven pipeline for top talent.

If the Longhorns are relying on talent alone to find their next solution to help out at linebacker, then look no further than Anthony. He does have a bit of game experience, so at least he wouldn’t be coming in raw. And he was around in Ann Arbor over the course of three years. He did rake in just 15.0 total tackles and one sack during his time at Michigan entering the 2020 offseason.

A very deep Michigan front seven under head coach Jim Harbaugh year in and year out could make it difficult for a niche linebacker like Anthony to find his way. Standing at 6-foot and 245 pounds, Anthony is a monster around the line of scrimmage. He does already have the size and strength to compete in the NFL.

Anthony would have to get the rest of his game together before he could even think about playing in the NFL anytime soon. The former IMG Academy product that ranked as the nation’s No. 106 2017 high school prospect and the No. 8 outside linebacker could be a game-changer if the Longhorns can find a better spot for him than Michigan did.
