Texas Football: 3 NCAA Transfer Portal ILB Longhorns targets
In each position group of the transfer portal big board for the Texas football program, I’ve tried to put at least one underrated option that head coach Tom Herman could go after. This one in particular is an inside linebacker that is going to fly far under the radar this offseason, with to-be redshirt junior Troy Trojans product Zo Bridges.
Three years where Bridges got consistent playing time for around two-and-a-half years with Troy. He was also coached up by two different regimes during his time with Troy. Former Trojans head coach Neal Brown is now in the same position with the West Virginia Mountaineers in the Big 12. Their current head coach is Chip Lindsay.
However, the production of Bridges over the course of three years of playing time with Troy is pretty impressive. He played in 14 games total, while racking up 37 total tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, and 5.5 sacks. The best season for Bridges came back in 2017, when he notched six of his tackles for loss in his career and three sacks.
The 6-foot-2 and 225 pound Bridges might be the most underrated among the proven commodities at inside linebacker in the transfer portal at the moment. The former three-star recruit was ranked as the nation’s No. 948 2016 high school prospect and the No. 63 outside linebacker. The Opelika, AL, native had offers from the Indiana Hoosiers, Appalachian State Mountaineers, Cincinnati Bearcats, Kentucky Wildcats, Minnesota Golden Gophers, and the Arkansas State Red Wolves.
