Texas basketball got to face a lot of NBA talent in the 2019-20 season that was cut short prior to their first game of the Big 12 Tournament.

Throughout the 2019-20 regular season for the Texas basketball program, the down parts of the schedule became rather forgotten. Texas fans will be left to wonder what would’ve been if their team was allowed to play through the Big 12 Tournament and potentially get to Selection Sunday with good news on the horizon.

But the precautions surrounding the novel coronavirus pandemic shut down the men’s basketball season before the Big 12 Tournament got good and before Selection Sunday could occur. Only a handful of conference tournaments were played, and the Big 12 Tournament only had a few games played before it was cancelled.

Pretty much the entirety of the sports world was placed on pause, or had their seasons cancelled outright, thanks to the COVID-19 outbreak. College basketball wasn’t the only victim. And the 2020 NBA Draft should be one of the events directly impacted by the cancellation of all the sports that were going on for the time being.

Nonetheless, Texas capped off their regular season slate with a record of 19-12 (9-9 Big 12). They were supposed to be a four-seed in the Big 12 Tournament, taking on the five-seed Texas Tech Red Raiders in their first game. Their last game came against the Oklahoma State Cowboys on March 7, which came at home at the Frank Erwin Center. A loss to Oklahoma State wound up severing a five-game winning streak at the time for Texas.

The level of competition for Texas in 2019-20 was pretty good, and they faced a number of potential NBA Draft prospects down the road.

Here’s a look into the five best 2020 NBA Draft prospects that the Texas Longhorns basketball program faced during the 2019-20 season.
