For some reason, head coach Shaka Smart couldn’t get his defense to shut down the Providence Friars when the two teams met in the non-conference schedule. Providence thoroughly dominated the Longhorns back in December, and the charge was largely led by the lengthy 6-foot-7 senior guard Alpha Diallo.

Diallo possesses the offensive creating abilities and gifted physical tools to make an impact in multiple respects of his game at the next level. He started off the 2019-20 regular season for Providence with 19 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, four blocks, and three steals, in an eventual win over Sacred Heart.

Throughout an up and down senior campaign for Diallo, he proved on multiple occasions that his draft stock will stay volatile and he has a lot of unrealized potential. Diallo had numerous games that he started where he registered less than five points. But against Texas, he proved how he can make an impact in multiple different areas of the game, posting 14 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, and two steals.

Moreover, Diallo did catch fire down the stretch for Providence. In eight of his final nine games of the season, Diallo scored in double figures. He also combined for more than 40 points in the last two games of the year. In the final six games of the season, he shot better than 50 percent from beyond the arc on a double-digit number of attempts.

The stock is high for Diallo at season’s end.
