Texas Football: 3 best OT Denzel Okafor transfer landing spots
3. Baylor Bears
An obvious landing spot for any transfer off of the Forty Acres at a position of need would be the Baylor Bears. Former Baylor head coach Matt Rhule will now be assuming the same position in the NFL, with the Carolina Panthers. He also took some of his coaching staff with him. Baylor will have pretty much an entirely new coaching staff this year.
There are going to be a lot of new faces in Waco this fall, starting with former LSU Tigers defensive coordinator Dave Aranda, who is taking over as the new head coach. He could be bringing in more talent from elsewhere to fill out his roster in the process. Baylor needs a solid offensive line to help to-be senior quarterback Charlie Brewer hold up this coming season.
A program that was pursuing Okafor pretty hard out of high school was Baylor. They were one of the 16 programs to send him a scholarship offer, and they also seemed to be in the running until the very end when he announced his commitment to the Longhorns. But here’s the chance for Baylor to get a quick fix in the trenches and get a prospect they pursued back in 2016 on campus.
A commonality between all three of the programs on this list is thin and rather inexperienced offensive line groups. Offensive tackle is a particularly thin position for Baylor at this point, as they’ve lost a few names to the transfer portal already this offseason.
