Three names that could hit the NCAA Transfer Portal out of the Texas basketball program entering the offseason are as follows.

Given the abrupt end to the 2019-20 college basketball season due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, there could be chaos ensuing in the NCAA Transfer Portal during the offseason. The Texas basketball program was one of those that were on the more confusing end of the impact of the abrupt end to the season comparatively to the rest of the Division 1 teams around the country.

Texas was on the bubble heading into the Big 12 Tournament and then Selection Sunday. Or at least the day that was supposed to be Selection Sunday. But the college hoops season was brought to an end thanks to the COVID-19 outbreak prior to the first game that the four-seed Texas could play the five-seed Texas Tech Red Raiders in the first game of the Big 12 Tournament.

Without a shadow of a doubt Texas was caught in a weird coaching saga heading into the offseason. Head coach Shaka Smart was expected to see the door out of Austin if he fell short of making the NCAA Tournament, but he might’ve gotten a second chance if he made it there on Selection Sunday.

Instead, Texas finished out the 2019-20 season in the only way that could throw Smart’s situation into complete limbo. But Texas athletic director Chris del Conte elected to bring back Smart for at least one more year. That could have a positive impact on some players, and could throw others into flux since they could’ve used a change in coaching regime.

Although Texas has yet to see any players put their names into the transfer portal this offseason, that could change soon.

Here’s a look into the three players most likely to transfer out of the Texas Longhorns basketball program heading into the 2020 offseason.
