Who are five former Texas football players that were still studs on the Forty Acres but are often forgotten by most in this fan base?

In the 2000’s the Texas football program experienced one of the biggest runs of success throughout its 118 year history. Texas won their last national title in the history of the program in 2005, led by former superstar quarterback and Heisman runner-up Vince Young. There were also numerous other BCS bowl wins for Texas throughout the 2000’s.

Hopefully a return to form for the 2000’s is where this Texas program goes over the course of the next decade instead of reverting back to what we saw throughout most of the 2010’s. Through the 2020’s, Texas is going to have to hope that current head coach Tom Herman finds success similar to what former head coach Mack Brown did in the 2000’s.

There are often forgotten names from Texas in the 2000’s that still helped those teams standout in a big way. This list of the “forgotten” names from Texas in the first decade of the current century is made up of players that did make a significant impact on this program.

Always will there be players that are former walk-ons and had a minimal overall impact on the gridiron during their time on the Forty Acres. A roster that is usually made up of 70+ names will do that for you. But all the names that helped Texas become the nationally prominent program that they did in the 2000’s deserve recognition in the midst of the sports world getting placed in pause in the midst of the novel coronavirus pandemic-induced hiatus.

Here’s a deeper look into the three players out of the Texas Longhorns football program that you forgot played for them in the 2000’s.
