The Texas football program didn’t contribute a single player of coach to the 2020 College Football Hall-of-Fame induction class.

The induction of the 2020 class for the College Football Hall-of-Fame was announced last month, and it didn’t include any former members of the Texas football program. This was a prestigious class, but didn’t have that many big names in terms of Texas or the NFL beyond a few players.

You can view the entire list of 17 inductees for the 2020 College Football Hall-of-Fame class on this link. That list of 17 inductees from last year was different in the sense that it didn’t include a single member of the Texas Longhorns football program.

But this class does include a few relevant members in the Big 12 and just names worthy of induction in general. Former Longhorn rival quarterback and Nebraska Cornhusker Eric Crouch was part of this class as was Oklahoma State Cowboys defensive tackle Leslie O’Neal, and SMU Mustangs running back Eric Dickerson.

Other former opponents include Colorado Buffaloes wide receiver Michael Westbrook, Houston Cougars wide receiver Elmo Wright, and LSU Tigers defensive end Glenn Dorsey. Alcorn State quarterback Steve McNair (who past away more than a decade ago) and UCLA quarterback Cade McNown were other notable names in this induction class.

The only two coaches that were inducted in this class included former NC State Wolfpack head man Dick Sheridan and Andy Talley of the Villanova Wildcats and St. Lawrence (NY). This year included two rather under-the-radar former head coaches, at least on the national scene.

The official induction for this College Football Hall-of-Fame will come in December, at the NFF Awards Show. This class will join Tommy Nobis, Darrell Royal, Bobby Layne, etc. as former Longhorns already in the College Football Hall-of-Fame.

It’s great to see some of these names inducted. Maybe next year we will be getting back to more former Longhorns inducted into the College Football Hall-of-Fame, though.
