A rising junior Warren Easton cornerback Jyaire “Hollywood” Brown talked with Hook’Em Headlines after receiving his Texas football offer on March 31.

One of the most recent offers to go out to a target of the 2022 Texas football recruiting class went to four-star 6-foot and 165 pound Warren Easton cornerback Jyaire “Hollywood” Brown. He received his Texas offer on March 31. And Texas is one of 11 schools on his offer sheet.

I talked with the New Orleans, LA, native target of the Texas Longhorns football program Brown this week on his recent offer and status of his recruitment, among other things.

What seems to stick out most about the Texas offer that Brown received on March 31 is the energy, atmosphere, and tradition around the program and the entire state. On the matter Brown stated “I love the state of Texas, the program is just great, and has a great history. I immediately fell in love with the energy from Texas.”

Brown also holds offers from schools ranging from the PAC-12 to the SEC, as of April 4. But he has a clear idea of who’s at the top of his list right now. Brown said “schools that are sticking out to me as of now are, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Louisville, Virginia, Texas and Memphis”. But “as of now Texas is at the top” of his list.

That big for the Longhorns to get in on such a talented cornerback at a point in time that is still relatively early in his recruitment. Offers could continue to pour in for Brown ahead of his junior year.

There are some notable goals that Brown is setting for himself during his junior season at Waren Easton. He wants to be a “ball hawk” and snag “around 5-6 interceptions this year”. And although corner is his primary position, he has aspirations of playing on both sides of the ball.

Brown could turn to inspiration he draws from other players that played their high school football in Louisiana to meet his goals this season. The players that he models his game most after includes LSU Tigers rising sophomore defensive back Derek Stingley Jr. and a former teammate of his at Warren Easton and Florida Gators rising sophomore corner Chester Kimbrough.

He got to learn a lot from Kimbrough during his time at Warren Easton before leaving for Gainesville last year.

Brown is now set to be one of the focal points of the defensive backfield for Warren Easton in the coming season. That is if nothing for the upcoming high school football season around the country is postponed or cancelled by the novel coronavirus pandemic.

The COVID-19 outbreak has caused the sports world to be placed on pause for the time being. But apparently that isn’t keeping Brown from staying positive and working hard at the midway point of his high school football career.

Here’s what Brown had to say on the matter of life during COVID-19 and how has routine has changed in terms of football now: “football hasn’t changed one bit for me, I have been going hard 7 days a week”.

Despite the COVID-19 having a lot of the country on near lockdown, Brown is still working hard and keeping his focus on the goals he’s set for himself during his junior season. He’s also still getting offers coming through despite the contact dead period for recruiting from the NCAA recently getting extended through May 31.

Brown received an offer from the Arkansas Razorbacks, which he announced on his Twitter timeline on April 3. Other schools not mentioned here that Brown has also received offers from includes the Utah Utes, Colorado Buffaloes, South Alabama Jaguars, and Tulane Green Wave.

Texas remains the lone school from the Big 12 that has offered Brown.

Brown ranks as the nation’s No. 122 2022 high school prospect, No. 17 cornerback, and No. 6 prospect out of Louisiana. He also ranks as the top 2022 cornerback prospect in Louisiana. Texas hasn’t landed a defensive back out of Louisiana in any recruiting class since head coach Tom Herman took the reigns during the 2017 cycle.

Texas has found a very talented cornerback that is getting prioritized early for their 2022 recruiting class in Brown.
