3. Denver Broncos

One of the younger offensive teams in the NFL sits in the Mile High City heading into the 2020 season. The Denver Broncos finished up their 2019 season with a record of 7-9. And the direction of their franchise shifted pretty dramatically over the course of the last calendar year. That included signing one quarterback and drafting another that they thought could be the starter for a while.

At season’s end, it looked like the future under center was going to be the former Mizzou Tigers star quarterback Drew Lock. Taking the starting job over from former Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl winner Joe Flacco, Lock had a pretty good rookie campaign all things considered. But he’ll need a better supporting cast moving forward.

The Broncos are set in the backfield between former Colorado Buffaloes running back Phillip Lindsay and multi-time Pro Bowl selection Melvin Gordon. Lindsay and Gordon could be one of the better one-two punches at running back in the entire league this coming season. Even third stringer and former Oregon Duck Royce Freeman is a solid depth piece in the running back room.

Former SMU Mustang Courtland Sutton is a bright part of the Broncos young core. They still need to add at least one more piece to the receiving corps. This is where adding Johnson could come into play. It would be a good situation for Johnson to be the Broncos true towering possession receiver on the outside, and he could join a former teammate and tight end Andrew Beck.
