Texas Football: 3 huge COVID-19 relief efforts from Longhorns
A few current and former players and coaches of the Texas football program are doing a lot to help out in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak.
What is commanding the attention of the entire sports world at the moment is the novel coronavirus pandemic. Sports have effectively been placed on pause almost worldwide while everyone tries to deal with the COVID-19 outbreak. And the Texas football program is one of multiple college football teams around the country that has to deal with these implications.
But Texas is not only dealing with the adjustments made to everyday life thanks to the COVID-19 precautions, but they are helping out in the community from multiple sources. That stems all the way to some Texas Exes that are playing in the NFL right now.
The relief efforts in college football are also stemming beyond what those current and former Texas players and coaches are doing. Clemson Tigers star quarterback Trevor Lawrence led the way with a GoFundMe page that he started last month for the COVID-19 fundraising. That page has now turned into a community foundation for donations.
This effort also goes all the way up to the NFL ranks. The New England Patriots made a big donation on the team’s plane with medical supplies last week. And former Patriots and Michigan Wolverines star quarterback Tom Brady also made a sizable donation of 10 million meals with the “Wheels Up” initiative.
Here’s a look at what current and former members of the Texas Longhorns football program are doing right now to help out with the COVID-19 relief efforts.
