2. Detroit Lions

There would be a path to more immediate playing time for Roach if he were to land with the Redskins than the Detroit Lions. More depth and a solidified veteran presence at numerous positions along the front seven makes the Lions a still appealing landing spot for Roach if he can look past the lack of path to an significant role early at the next level.

Pretty much all of the Lions biggest positional needs in the 2020 NFL Draft come on the defensive side of the ball. The Lions don’t have one position that has an overwhelming need beyond the secondary (cornerback is very low on depth), but they could bolster the younger talent on the roster with a good go at it in the 2020 NFL Draft.

As is stands today, the Lions would be starting Romeo Okwara and Trey Flowers at their two defensive end spots. Former Tennessee Volunteers stud Jalen Reeves-Maybin would be their top starter at one of the two outside linebacker spots. But the Lions have a few different spots where Roach could be a good fit.

Outside linebacker is getting pretty thin, and the Lions need help for their pass rush in general. Solidifying the edge was a big problem for the Lions at times lats season. Roach would be able to fill that need for outside linebacker depth immediately. Utilize him well, and the Lions will really find an underrated gem in this draft with Roach.
