Texas Football: 3 best Brandon Jones 2020 NFL Draft landing spots
Another former Texas football players that is projected to be a middle round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft is four-year safety Brandon Jones.
Former Texas football starting senior safety Brandon Jones is the final 2020 NFL Draft prospect in the Hook’Em Headlines list of four that look to be near-locks to avoid being undrafted free agent signings. The other three are defensive end Malcolm Roach, and wide receivers Collin Johnson and Devin Duvernay.
This 6-foot and 205 pound safety really proved his value and reliability over the course of the last two years with this Texas defense. He was the glue that held the Texas secondary together, even when it looked like it was about to completely collapse on itself under the direction of former defensive coordinator Todd Orlando in 2018 and 2019.
There were times when the Texas pass defense was truly torched by opposing offenses like the Oklahoma Sooners, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Texas Tech Red Raiders, and West Virginia Mountaineers in the last two seasons. But if Jones had not been back there, Texas would not have won 18 games combined during the last two seasons.
The former top rated safety recruit in the nation racked up 232 career total tackles, 14.0 tackles for loss, one sack, three interceptions, seven pass deflections, two forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries in his four year career at Texas. He also made an impact on special teams, averaging around 12 yards per punt return and 19 yards per kick return in his college career.
Jones was named to the Nagurski and Lott Award Watch Lists during the 2019 preseason. He also took home All-Big 12 Honorable Mention honors in 2018 and All-Big 12 Second Team honors last season.
Here’s a look into the three best potential landing spots for the former Texas Longhorns football safety Brandon Jones in the 2020 NFL Draft.
