A former Texas football player that could be on the brink of getting selected late in the 2020 NFL Draft is center Zach Shackelford.

The offensive line has a few prospects coming out of the Texas football program going into the 2020 NFL Draft that could be underrated finds either in the later rounds or as undrafted free agent signings. Of the former standout Texas offensive linemen in this 2020 NFL Draft class, the first that comes to mind is the ex-starting senior center Zach Shackelford.

Two prospects to watch out of Texas along the offensive line that could fall in the later rounds of the 2020 NFL Draft includes former graduate transfer guard Parker Braun and Shackelford. The latter of the two was an Athlon Sports Preseason All-American and All-Big 12 performer through multiple years in his time on the Forty Acres.

The main problem that Shackelford ran into during his college career, and what could ultimately limit his spot in this year’s draft, was nagging lower-body injury issues. It seemed like there was always something going on with a knee, foot, or ankle of Shackelford’s each passing season.

Injuries are a part of football, but when you undergo as many injuries as an offensive lineman like Shackelford did, it soon starts to become a very worrying sign over the long haul. At least the novel coronavirus pandemic-induced pause to the sports world as we know it should give Shackelford some extra time to relax and repair his body. That could play to his advantage if nothing else does through this difficult time worldwide.

Here’s a look into the three best potential landing spots for the former Texas Longhorns football senior center Zach Shackelford in the 2020 NFL Draft.
