2. DeMarvion Overshown, Linebacker

One of the most highly touted recruits and breakout candidates in waiting for the Longhorns on the defensive side of the ball this year is former four-star recruit and converted safety DeMarvion Overshown. Head coach Tom Herman and recently hired defensive coordinator Chris Ash moved Overshown from safety to linebacker earlier in the offseason.

This 6-foot-4 and 210 pound former safety has played in just six games in his college career. In those six games he’s played in, Overshown racked up 19 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, two sacks, one interception, three pass deflections, and one forced fumble. Most of that production came in his final games played last season.

The insane physical tools and athleticism that Overshown brings to the table makes him one of the projected starting linebackers for Texas that has the highest ceiling. He’s got enough strength, versatility, and a good enough motor to be able to thrive either at safety or linebacker. Raking in more than one tackle for loss per game last season proves that.

Overshown could be starting at linebacker for the Longhorns at the WILL spot alongside the likes of rising juniors Juwan Mitchell and Joseph Ossai. The big star at linebacker for Texas is Ossai, but Overshown can be a solid complement to him. Getting Mitchell back on the Forty Acres after he put his name into the transfer portal earlier in the offseason is big too.
