1. Caden Sterns/B.J. Foster, Defensive Back

There was more bona fide production and consistency that came from the last two names on the list here for the Longhorns, but the defensive back combination of rising juniors Caden Sterns and B.J. Foster helps this secondary go. Sterns and Foster were also the two top signees in the Longhorns 2018 recruiting class.

As the only two five-star commits in the Longhorns 2018 recruiting class, Sterns and Foster made that group what it was. The former ranked as the No. 19 high school prospect in the nation, No. 1 safety, and top prospect out of Texas. Sterns also ranks as one of the top 500 prospects all-time in the history of 247Sports recruiting rankings.

Meanwhile, Foster ranked as a to 25 2018 high school prospect in the nation. Foster would wind up moving to nickelback last season, which was a pretty seamless transition for him given his gifted physical tools and athleticism. In his college career thus far, Foster has played in 21 games while racking up 81 total tackles, 14.0 tackles for loss, five sacks, two interceptions, six pass deflections, and two forced fumbles.

Next. 3 sophomores who could make a big leap in 2020. dark

Sterns saw his production slip up a lot at times last season. He now has 121 total tackles, 7.0 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, four interceptions, and five pass deflections. But all four picks and four of the five pass deflections came during his freshman season. Sterns definitely needs a big bounce back season in 2020.
