A very up and down 2019-20 season for the Texas basketball program saw three players really standout and excite the fan base later on.

An abrupt end to the 2019-20 season for the Texas basketball program halted what could’ve been an interesting postseason run. Texas had their season called off before they were able to play their first game in the Big 12 Tournament last month, which was supposed to come on March 12 against the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Texas finished up the 2019-20 season, prior to the novel coronavirus pandemic-induced halt prior to the Big 12 Tournament wrapping up and the NCAA Tournament beginning, with a record of 19-12 (9-9 Big 12). The last game that Texas played in came against the Oklahoma State Cowboys on March 7 at home at the Frank Erwin Center. That game resulted in a 81-59 drubbing that went in favor of Oklahoma State.

Just ahead of the COVID-19-induced season cancellation, Texas looked to be on the bubble for Selection Sunday. The NCAA Tournament wasn’t too far out of sight for head coach Shaka Smart, who really needed a berth (preferably as a single-digit seed) to keep his seat cool. But it appears that Texas athletic director Chris del Conte is fully intent on bringing Smart back for at least one more season.

All that could happen for the fate of Smart to be left in limbo this year was a season that ended without a decision for the NCAA Tournament. And that’s exactly what happened.

Nonetheless, there were still some great moments that made the Texas season (especially down the stretch) pretty fun to follow.

Here’s a look into the three most exciting players for the Texas Longhorns basketball program that played during the 2019-20 season.
