1. Courtney Ramey, Guard

The most important duo that the Longhorns had to rely upon last season (and for most of the 2018-19 campaign) was the guard combination of junior Matt Coleman and sophomore Courtney Ramey. And there were a lot of exciting moments that Coleman was able to deliver in the season that was for the Longhorns.

But all around, Ramey is the more exciting and polarizing of the two guards. He is a less consistent scorer and defender than Coleman, but his ceiling as a two-way guard is much higher. And Ramey is likely to have a more certain NBA future than Coleman. But neither is a sure-fire NBA Draft pick in the coming years.

In 31 games played in the season that was, Ramey averaged 10.9 points per game, 3.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.0 steals, while shooting 40.1 percent from the field, 31.3 percent from beyond the arc, and 70.9 percent from the charity stripe. He really started to see an uptick in his production too down the stretch.

There’s a good argument to make that Ramey was the main spark plug to the hot streak the Longhorns found in the final games of the 2019-20 season. Texas went on a five-game winning streak just before the regular season finale. Ramey had his best month in February, while averaging 13.8 points per game, 3.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.4 steals.
