Potentially the first former Texas football player off the board in the 2020 NFL Draft could be the 5-foot-11 wide receiver Devin Duvernay.

The beginning of the 2020 NFL Draft is now officially well under one week away from kicking off day one of the festivities. And there’s around four or five former players out of the Texas football program that could be selected in the 2020 draft. Two of those play at the wide receiver position and could very well be the first two off the board among the Texas Exes in this draft class.

In a recent episode of ESPN’s “College Football Podcast”, NFL Draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. gave his takes on one potential top wideout coming out of the Texas Longhorns football program in this class. Kiper Jr. appeared to be very high on former Texas senior breakthrough star wide receiver Devin Duvernay ahead of the beginning of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Here’s what Kiper Jr. had to say on the matter, between Duvernay and one of the wide receiver he likes from the Big 12, which also includes Jalen Reagor of the TCU Horned Frogs.

"“Jalen Reagor and Devin Duvernay are two really good receivers,” Kiper said on ESPN’s College Football podcast. “They might not go in the first round, but they’ll go in the second. Raegor can fly out of TCU. He’s a great punt returner. He didn’t have a quarterback to get him the ball on a consistent basis. Devin Duvernay had over 100 catches. This kid was phenomenal at Texas, ran 4.39, can fly, great kid, hard worker, cousin of Kyler Murray. Devin Duvernay from Texas and Jalen Reagor, I’ll be keeping an eye on them to see where they go.”"

Duvernay and Reagor are two of the faster receivers coming out of the Big 12 in the 2020 NFL Draft class. The former is coming off a senior campaign where he registered more than 100 receptions for nearly 1,400 yards and 10 total touchdowns. Meanwhile, the talented Reagor had somewhat of a off year registering 700 total yards from scrimmage and five scores during the 2019 season.

The other wide receiver to watch from the Longhorns in the 2020 draft should be the 6-foot-6 star Collin Johnson. Both Johnson and Duvernay were productive receivers for the Longhorns over the course of the last two seasons, but the latter was better last year.
