Three potential targets could stick out as the next three commitments to the 2021 Texas football recruiting class in the coming weeks and months.

Unfortunately for the 2021 Texas football recruiting class, the results in the way of actual commitments have gone by the wayside in the midst of the novel coronavirus pandemic. Texas hasn’t landed a single major commitment for their 2021 or 2022 recruiting class since the turn of the calendar year. Spring camp was supposed to be a major source of recruiting impact for Texas, but that didn’t come to fruition.

The COVID-19 outbreak radically changed the way that college football programs have to recruit. We are sitting amid a time where there is an NCAA mandated in-person recruiting contact dead period. Hence head coach Tom Herman has to get really creative with the way he keeps various prospects’ interests in his program.

The last commit that Texas landed for their 2021 recruiting class was five-star Denton-Ryan athlete Ja’Tavion Sanders, way back on Sep. 8, 2019. That’s a long time for Texas to go without any commitments for two recruiting classes.

According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, Texas currently slots as the No. 16 2021 recruiting class in the nation. Texas is still somehow at the top of the 2021 Big 12 class rankings. The entire Big 12 is struggling to find traction in the top 10 of the national class rankings.

For good measure, here’s a list of the programs that currently rank ahead of Texas in the national class rankings: Rutgers, North Carolina, Maryland, Minnesota, and Iowa.

Here’s a look into the definitive predictions for the next three commitments to the 2021 recruiting class for the Texas Longhorns football program this offseason.
